About the PCA Board of Directors
Process:

PCA directors are elected during the Q4 membership Annual Meeting for two-year terms.

Following the Annual Meeting, directors choose among themselves who becomes President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Corresponding Secretary for the following year.

The directors formally meet with PCA membership quarterly.
Board Roles and Responsibilities:

President - Convenes and presides over meetings, appoints or dissolves committees, casts any necessary tie-breaking votes, cosigns PCA checks.

Vice President - Assumes president's duties in his/her absence, cosigns checks, participates in committee meetings as needed, directs annual audit.

Treasurer - maintains PCA balance sheets, cosigns checks, prepares materials for annual audit

Secretary - captures meeting minutes, maintains membership roster

Corresponding Secretary - drafts member-facing communications including those for the web and/or newsletter

What if I'm willing to serve on the board but not in a specific position (ex: willing to serve but not as president)? Inform the board and membership when you present your name for consideration. The directors work to assign positions based on skills and preference, so it's possible this can be accommodated.

How much time will this take? Directors generally spend less than 2 hours per month conducting the business of the board.

What if I don't know how to do a task assigned to me as a director? Directors typically work collaboratively and support each other in completing the work of the board. In addition, numerous neighbors are willing to help out.

Do I need to have experience as a board member to join the PCA board? No. The PCA board has standard operating procedures describing how to do its work and volunteers who can help you learn.
